Great for complete beginners and those starting out : I bought this just to boost up my order to get free postage and am so glad i did! I've been to a few classes, which i've found move a little to quickly, with explanation the first time round for moves but no carry over as there is so much to take in! This DVD is great for keeping you focused on your technique and also the breath control (which i always forget). Even my other half, who has never done yoga before loves it and uses it instead of a class.
The best fitness dvd I've ever bought! : So many fitness dvds are too fast, don't take time to explain the little bits of info and instead focus too much on the celebrity in it (who isn't always performing the move correctly). This dvd is the complete opposite. The instructor explains clearly how to perform each posture and the breathing that goes with it. Importantly its not too easy either, but does challenge the beginner and offers variation on the posture if you suffer from back problems etc. There is also a 20min intermediate routine once you feel its time for more challenges! This dvd has so far helped me keep my New Year resolution.
Great for Novices : I was a bit sceptical about 'Yoga', but discovered that the step by step instruction was really helpful, and although some of the poses are quite difficult at first, I felt very relaxed after finishing. I am doing this for 'stress' related problems, and I have to say it is starting to help. I must say it is only for absolute novices! Like Me!
Brilliant to help learn : I was a complete beginner and had brought a much harder yoga DVD to start off with. I wasn't sure if I was doing it right so I got this DVD to show things from scratch! It breaks each move down and teaches breathing and core stability which I have learnt is the key to yoga. I wouldn't recommend this DVD for anyone that has attended classes but it's great for first timers.
Brilliant for total beginners : As someone who did a bit of yoga, centuries ago, and wanted to refresh it from the very beginning, I found this DVD absolutely excellent. Sarah is very soothing, and yes, you nearly fall asleep just by listening to her, but since I want to do it mainly to relax, this one does it for me.
It is true though that after two weeks of practicing, I am a bit bored of the explanations and would like to practice other postures, but I don't want to start fidgeting with the remote control; that's the only down point for me. Then again, it means she has made sure we always will remember to position the leg like this, so we don't hurt the knee, or the chair there, so we don't hurt our backs - if some others have taken the time to do the same I wouldn't have a few problems now.
So for the very beginners, to me, this DVD is the one. Very easy to follow, and difficult to forget. I do it every morning, and I am looking forward buying a few more by these people. And I am just buying another copy as a birthday present!
Now, keep in mind that is what is, for total beginners, and probably not very fit people at all.
